Dry Buttermilk - Central and East

Buttermilk - Eastern and Central U.S.

     Report 3 - Released on January 16, 2020

Central: Buttermilk powder trading was active this week, as prices shifted higher on the top
of the range. As nonfat dry milk markets maintain strength, buttermilk drying is naturally
slighter. Buyer interest has remained steady, therefore the supply/demand ratio is leaning
bullishly. All that said, with cream supplies and churning at seasonally teeming levels,
condensed and dried buttermilk supplies are expected to rise in the near term. Currently,
however, buttermilk markets are steadily bullish.

EAST: Dry buttermilk prices adjusted higher at the top of the range this week. While
churning has picked up and more solids are available for processing, in the East, dry
buttermilk stocks are very scarce. Sources are having to look at other regions for available
spot loads. The overall market tone is tight.
Prices for: Eastern and Central U.S., All First Sales, F.O.B., Conventional, and Edible
     Buttermilk
     Price Range ; $/LB: 1.1200 - 1.1825
